Heather Norton
Vocals / Accordion / Guitar / Ukulele / Percussion
Heather is from Whitehall, MI and started playing piano there at age 9. She sang in choirs throughout high school and college where she majored in music theory. She moved to Charleston by way of Florida in 2004 and has played in local bands ever since beginning with Henry's Attic in 2005 and Forty Mile Detour in 2019. She now sings and plays the accordion (squeeze box), ukulele, washboard, tambourine and egg shaker.
Heather's biggest musical influences are Tara Nevins of Donna the Buffalo and the Grateful Dead.
Her vocal performances and multi-instrument contributions are an integral part of
Forty Mile Detour's "Authentic.American.Music."
